Five Hottest Bicycle Shops In Chicago

Biking in Chicago is one of the most popular ways to stay fit in the summer months. Whether you are a serious cyclist or you just go for a ride on Saturday afternoons, its important to keep your bike in great shape. Luckily, there are lots of great cycle shops in the city that provide parts and service for your bike.

Iron Cycles 3236 West Montrose Iron Cycles sells full bikes, components, and cycle apparel. Their preventative maintenance services come in packages with set pricing, so it takes the guess work out of the cost to keep your bike riding smoothly. Service packages start out at just $50. Kozy's Cyclery Four Chicago locations Kozy's Cyclery provides custom bike fitting , designed specifically for your cycling experience level. Bike fitting for new riders starts out at only $15. Kozy also offers a host of money-saving coupons on their website.

Village Cycle Center 1337 North Wells Village Cycle Center probably has the most name recognition of all of the cycle shops in Chicago. They carry over 10, 000 bicycles , and they offer free 30 ride check-ups for the first year that you own your bike. Free fall check-ups are available for the first two years of ownership. Johnny Sprockets Two Chicago locations Johnny Sprockets was listed in Time Out Chicago as the Reader's Choice for best cycle shop. They have two North Side locations, and have a huge selection of bicycles, accesseories, and even shoes. One great think about Johnny Sprockets is that they offer bike test rides. Similar to a test drive for a car, it allows you to ind the perfect bike for your body and riding style.

Cycle Smithy 2468.5 North Clark Street Cycle Smithy has been a staple in the Chicago cycle scene since 1973. They specialize in high-end bikes and service. The most exciting thing about the Cycle Smithy may not be the new bikes for sale, but their classic bike museum. Restored bikes dating all the way back to the turn of the 20th century are on display in the shop. If you are a biking enthusiast, a trip to the shop is a must. Chicago is definitely a cyclist's city, with paths on many major streets and all along the lakefront. Visit any one of these shops to keep your bike in tip-top shape or to get your first serious bicycle.

BMX Bikes: Boys or Mens??
Ok, first, I know Noting about BMX Bikes but i plan on getting one, I noticed that a 20" BMX bike i plan on buying says Boys, but it looks like a bike a person at least 20+ can ride. So, are the BMX Bikes such as this one (http://cgi.ebay.com/2008-Mongoose-R2272-20-Boys-BMX-Gravel-Bicycle-Bike_W0QQitemZ230252828624QQihZ013QQcategoryZ98082QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting), can they be ridden by men around the age of 18 or 19 around 5'11" hieght, if i adjust some things (i.e. handlebars, seats, etc.), or are these bikes only ride-able by children. *& Ive rode previous 20" bikes in the past, nd ive had no problems with them being too small, are they the same size as regularbikes or smaller, thank you. *And if you dont understand what im talking about, im trying to find out which bike size to get, because i think i see my size (20 inch frame) but it still says boys and im 5'11''. i just plan on using the bike just to ride around, like a quick way to visit like the drug store insted of always using my car, I dont plan on dirt jumping or any of that stuff.

I'm thinking of taking up (bicycle) biking?
I don't get very much exercise so I was thinking of taking up road biking. I don't really know what i'm in for though...i live in a place with lots of big hills and stuff. Also I don't exactly have a road bike. I have a very old bike thats still in good condition, but it's more of a mountain bike. Anyways if anyone has any advice they can give me on biking then i'd appreciate it.

Breaking in a new bicycle/bike or bad rear hub?
I have recently purchased a new cruiser Schwinn. when i am riding the bike and i stop peddling and start coasting the bike makes funny sounds. it has a coaster break. im not sure if i have to break it in or if the back hub is bad because i usually buy higher end bikes and i only bought this one to mount a motor onto. I just re-greased the hub and the bearings and it is a little better but im still not satisfied. thanks for the help
